This flagship development by Sovereign represents the first 90 homes to be built as part of the ambitious redevelopment programme for Devonport in Plymouth. The overall project will provide more than 1500 mixed tenure homes over the next 10-15 years.
The official opening of the scheme, carried out by Linda Gilroy MP on 6 June, celebrated this major milestone and recognised the crucial role of local residents in helping to build a new community. The day was enjoyed by 350 people, including residents, their children, the local primary school and business representatives who took part in a range of celebrations including a ‘picnic in the park’, football skills, a visit by Plymouth Albion rugby stars, Wildworks tea party, circus skills workshop, Music Zone percussion and an awards ceremony in recognition of local residents' involvement.
Special guest Linda Gilroy commented that the scheme was an excellent example of successful regeneration and paid credit to the local community and Sovereign Housing Association.
