More landlords join top development alliance

Saxon Weald and Housing Solutions will enter a new era with a partnership already building 14 affordable homes every week.
Saxon Weald Development Director Richard Donnelly said: “We’ve been successful in our current partnership, but believe the Sovereign Development Consortium is leading the field in provision of special needs accommodation, rural schemes, and resident involvement. We’re delighted to have signed up, and are confident we can bring even more to the partnership.”
Housing Solutions Business Development Director Jill Caress added: “Our programme is largely based in the Thames Valley, so it makes sense for us to work more closely with the major partners in this area. We’ve successfully increased our funding through our current partnership, and believe we can aim even higher under the Sovereign Development Consortium banner.”
SDC has emerged as the partner of choice since starting out with five members three years ago, and growing to 12. However, with the two new members on board, SDC has been able to expand its operational area without losing focus on delivering 2000 new homes for less grant.
Head of SDC Lindy Morgan said: “From the outset, SDC has been more than just a funding vehicle. We’re driving down costs by working with our framework contractors, suppliers and consultants, and using tools like our extranet to overcome hurdles by pooling ideas.
“Naturally, we’re delighted to have two high-calibre landlords joining our alliance as we put together our biggest ever development affordable housing programme for the south of England.”
