Devon has a target to complete 65,000 homes by 2016, with the lion’s share built on the south coast.
The county’s affordability problems are well documented, and exacerbated by the large number of holiday homes.
To meet the target, development is centred on Plymouth, Exeter, and Torquay and Paignton, and affordable quotas have been increased in many areas of the south Devon coast to 50% of all new development.
Furthermore, the ongoing regeneration of Plymouth’s Devonport docks area is well underway, with Sovereign Development Consortium working hard on three major schemes. These include using our framework contractor Leadbitter for 90 new homes at James Street, and working alongside Redrow on the redevelopment of the South Yard dock storage area. Finally, Sovereign is also working on the 450 home plans for Mount Wise with Firmac.
