In 2009 Sovereign gained planning permission to redevelop the former Woodstock School site in Kingswood, South Gloucestershire. The development situated on Courtney Road will aim to revitalise the site which has remained vacant since the closure of the school in 2001.

The site will comprise of both Section 106 homes - through the Homes West partnership - and Sovereign selected tenures. In total, Sovereign will provide 66 homes on the site including affordable rent, intermediate rent and Shared Ownership providing a range of new housing opportunities for the local area.

The Scheme

Using Sovereign Development Consortium contractors – Leadbitter Group – we will provide a variety of homes: 13 one bedroom apartments, 18 two bedroom apartments, 12 two bedroom houses, 21 three bedroom houses and 1 four bedroom house. Each home will incorporate enhanced eco features including a mechanical heating and ventilation system - enabling heat to be recycled - increased wall and roof insulation, and water saving devices.

A bespoke two bedroom wheelchair accessible bungalow will also be built in accordance with the Council’s wheelchair accessible design requirements.

The scheme will include approximately 2,300m of public open space, the majority of which will be situated in the south eastern corner of the site. This will provide an informal communal area for residents and the existing neighbourhood, and include a play area for young children.
